Turning Passion Into Purpose

Ever have one of those moments you see on TV where you can see a person's life change in a moment? Maybe it was an out of body experience? April 9, 2018 was that moment for me. Nowhere in my mind or thought process anywhere, were the words pediatric cancer... much less pediatric brain tumor. But, there we were sitting in a doctors office after getting a distraught call from the doctor saying "you and your husband need to come into my office immediately". This is the moment where life was forever changed.

I could go on and on right now about the questions we asked, the zombie's we must have looked like walking to the car after that, coming home and being "normal" as we picked Grace up from school that day and the blur of next steps that ensued over the next 4 weeks as we worked towards a diagnosis then treatment. I will leave that all for another day, as this post is dedicated to turning a passionate idea about something into purpose.

We were motivated into action on so many levels that day. What came next continues to be chronicled as we process what happened and how we have all changed. It seems far away but also seems like yesterday at times. I know exactly where we were sitting when G (for those that don't know we have a few nicknames for Grace, G, being one of the most common ones) and I said...we should create a non-profit to help all the non-profits that helped us and to be able to bring a smile to the faces of kids going through treatment.

She has always been selfless, and having this happen to her only amplified her drive to help someone else. Helping others has helped her be strong, get through it all and continues to help her heal...and so from there the WITH Grace Initiative began. It began as notes on stickies (my usual go to for everything from reminders to birthday cards for those that know me), to notes in notebooks and coloring books, to notes on the phone to conversations with friends and professionals to THIS. Grace is passionate that she can make an impact in the lives of others for the better. We are driven to take her lead and help her be the change she wants to see in the world. This happened to her for a reason and we will turn this passion into purpose to help the lives of others.

Thank you for coming on this journey with us.

Take the initiative. Make an impact. WITH Grace.
